Permanent Resident Sponsorship
CHOP sponsors foreign national employees for permanent resident status on a case-by-case basis based on objective factors to determine if sponsorship is appropriate. Some general criteria for CHOP sponsorship is below.

- The employee must have completed one full year of service at CHOP
- The employee must be in a full-time, non-temporary position
- The employee must have no disciplinary action in his or her employment file
- If the position is dependent on grant funding, a minimum of three years of funding must be available at the time of recommendation. If the position is Hospital-funded, the sponsoring department must foresee a need for the position that will continue at least 3 years in the future from the time of recommendation.
- The employee’s position must require a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in addition to 2 years of relevant experience for consideration
- The employee’s position must be considered difficult to fill (i.e. skills required for the position are not readily available in the US job market)
- A verbal commitment from the employee to remain at CHOP for 3 years
